Service
RainAtlas publishes weather forecasts on this website and sells access to the same data through an API. Using the website is free. Using the API requires an account and an API key.
Forecasts
Forecasts are computed automatically from public weather models and observations. They are provided for information. Do not use them as the only basis for decisions where safety is at stake: follow the official warnings of your national weather service.
API accounts
You are responsible for keeping your API key private. Each plan has a daily request quota, reset every day at 00:00 UTC. Abusive use (attempts to bypass quotas, attacks, reselling raw data as a competing API) can lead to suspension of the key.
Paid plans
Paid plans are monthly subscriptions billed in US dollars through Stripe. You can cancel at any time; the plan stays active until the end of the paid period. Prices and quotas are shown on the API page.
Data sources and attribution
Our data come from sources that allow commercial reuse: ECMWF open data, NOAA (GFS, HRRR, MRMS), Deutscher Wetterdienst (ICON, radar), EUMETNET OPERA (radar), Copernicus (CAMS, ERA5) and others listed on the methodology page. When you display API data, show the attribution line returned by the endpoint.
Changes
We may change these terms, the plans or the endpoints. Significant changes are announced on the API page.
